This afternoon, our class played another game of 99math. We practiced on comparing numbers. (Decimal numbers) This was quite challenging because the music from the game made me feel pressured. Although in the end, I still made it!
I am a Year 6/7 student at Edmund Hillary School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Room 9 and my teacher is Roya. This is a place where I will share my learning. Please note that some of it will not be complete, it will be my first draft. Remember to be positive, thoughtful and helpful when you leave me a comment.

99math Reflection
This afternoon, our class played a game together called 99math and I thought that it was really fun! My next step will be to work faster when I round numbers to the nearest 10. I'm looking forward to doing more challenges in the future!!

Today's Math Reflection
This afternoon, our class was learning how to turn word statements into algebraic expressions.
(e.g) Rachel has x dollars and she bought $15 worth of jeans. (Turn this into a math expression)
Answer: x - 15
We learnt words like: Increased, decreased, difference, sum, and product. I think that this activity was really fun! My goal next time is to learn how to use BEDMAS correctly. I'm looking forward to learn more about this topic in the future!

Marissa’s New Life
“Where am I? Why am I here?” feeling confused, Marissa rubs her eyes continuously. “W- What happened to my hands? I’M A SHEEP??” Everything surrounding her felt larger than normal. Did I swap bodies?? The normal trees Marissa used to climb were now 3x the size! Marissa felt so small, so useless. Now feeling lost, Marissa decides to explore. “I’ll need to learn how to survive.”
She walks for ages, now starting to feel weak…. But then finally, Marissa discovers a lake! Smooth, oval rocks lie around, baby goldfish swim around frantically. Marissa took a sip. Am I dreaming? On the other side of the lake sits Jules. Jules is a jolly type of sheep, she looked gorgeous! Her eyes reminded Marissa about her young sister Avery. Here she was, sipping away. Suddenly she spots Marissa, “Hey! I’m Jules, are you new here??”
“Hi! I’m Marissa, yes! But I don’t know where I am. Do you know if there’s a place I could stay just for tonight??” “Well..” said Jules. “I don’t know, I
’m new here too! Although if you want, can we have lunch together? Marissa had no choice but to say yes, she didn’t have anywhere to go! Lunch was unusual, they had a dish full of clover, grass, and ferbs. They considered themselves as friends! It was kinda awkward while eating. Marissa tried her very best to act like a normal sheep, eating messy. Jules understood how Marissa felt, she too was having a problem! So they decided to pair up to look for their new home.
There they went, walking side by side as the scorching hot sun came shining over them, crickets chirped. Small baby hummingbirds can be seen on roses, quietly listening. “Will this ever end?” complained Marissa. “Are we lost?” At some point, Marissa even started spanking herself to make sure if this was a dream or not.
It was time to set up a house until they found a permanent place to stay. They set up a basic but sturdy shelter that was big enough for the two of them to survive during hail storms, and hot, sunny days. Marissa and Julie grew closer together each day, telling their secrets to each other. A day later it was time to pack up and keep searching for their forever home, and for better water supply.
They walked, and walked, until hours later, they came across a field full of other sheep huddled together with their shepherd and a dog leading them. “Looks like they're having fun!” Feeling relieved, Marissa and Julie join in. Years have passed and they have been part of a new family with Jack, Mavis, Katrina, Kingsley, Rihannah and many more with their wonderful shepherd, Joseph!
Marissa admired Joseph because he was a very committed and responsible shepherd to their flock, taking care of them, and attending to their needs. Their new life there was amazing but the most important thing for Marissa is that she has a family to be with.
